Data Loggers:
Shockbug

The Hanwell Shockbug is designed to record shock or tilt events experienced by a valuable object during transit. The unit is an event logger, i.e. it only records the time at which preset limits are exceeded. These limits are set during manufacture.

The Shockbug is attached to an upright surface on the packing case of the object. If the package undergoes an acceleration greater than 5g in any direction, or is tilted more than 35 degrees from vertical, these movements will be recorded, along with the date and time of the disturbance. This allows owners of valuable items to identify the exact time and date when shock or tilt events occurred.

When the Shockbug finishes its journey, the stored data can be downloaded via high speed RS232 coms link, using the provided Windows software. The software stores the data in a tamper-proof filing system and allows the user to view or print a summary of any particular journey.
